Don't let anyone think less of you because you are young.  Be an example to all believers in what you teach, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.

    -I Timothy 4:12

I was 13 years old when I went on my first missions trip to downtown Detroit.  I was young but so ready to tell people about Jesus Christ.  During the afternoons on our trip we would got out into the neighborhoods to schools, parks, or wherever we were assigned to host backyard Bible clubs for the kids in those areas.  They were so much fun.  These kids were thrilled to have a "big kid" give them so much attention and be there just to play with them.  One day we were beginning to pack up the backyard Bible club and head back to the church where we were staying.  I do not know why, but I suddenly noticed these three guys that were playing basketball at the park we were at.  I felt like God was pushing me to possibly go present the Gospel to these guys.  I tried to justify not going over there by telling myself things like: "We got to get back.  We dont have time.  They look way older than me."  My mind could justify it, but my heart could not.  I finally decided to walk over there.  I, for some reason, had so much confidence in what I was saying.   Two of the guys did not show any interest, but one of them gave me his complete attention.  His name was Silas.

I began to ask Silas some questions about God and faith.  He was completely engrossed in every word that came out of my mouth.  Here I was a 5 foot, 13 year old kid talking to a man who stood head and shoulders above me and who was probably double my age, but that did not matter to Silas.  I finished my questions and asked if He would like to pray and ask Jesus to save Him from his sin.  Silas gladly answered, "Yes."  I was able to pray with Silas right there on a park bench.  After we said our amen's Silas looked at me and gave me the biggest smile in the world.  A smile that I will never forget.  The Holy Spirit filled Him that day, and I could see it instantly in his excitement and facial expression.  Silas thanked me for sharing Jesus Christ with him and assured me he would attend church and begin to live for God immediately.  God used me that day in a way that I will always remember and showed me all He can do through JUST A KID.

Remember also your Creator in the days of thy youth,...
